Was at my favorite surgical supply house yesterday, and decided to pick up a few extra N95 NIOSH certified masks. There were absolutely NO masks on the shelf of ANY kind, and I found out there were none in stock, with a 3-4 week back order.  Even the painter's dust masks . This in an area where SARS really isn't that much of a concern. They did have some reserved stock N95's in the back but would only release them if you were a business ( with proof ), or could provide a public safety ID. NO sales to individuals. I picked up two boxes to compliment the 5 boxes I already stocked, but if you haven't already stocked them in your kit, it's going to be difficult to find them for personal use.

to do so. Thus the N95 label on the mask. What you say is true, but even surgical masks provide a high reduction in exposure risk, although its not 100%. Yes. I was surprised to read on a Canadian web site that they said not to use surgical masks and to use N95. I would think that surgical masks would be as good, but apparently not.
