But, when I asked one of the tech people, they swore that they knew what I was talking about (spread spectrum) and that they did NOT use it. Maybe they were mistaken. Larry

As such, it is questionable whether it is worth the extra bucks to buy one. The digital transmissions between handset and _base_ would be some advantage - for clarity of weak signals. Whether it's worth the extra bucks is up to you, but realistically, I don't see anyone but the super-determined person/pro that is specifically after YOU eavesdropping on this phone. If someone is determined and able enough to successfully intercept the Tropez, they can just as well tap your phone line (frighteningly easy), bug you, steal your mail, go through your trash, follow you around, etc. If that's the case, you've got problems such that a secure cordless phone should be the least of your worries. As I see it, digital cordless is only for discouraging the casual eavesdropper. Get an encrypted unit, and if I wanted hear what you were saying bad enough, I'd climb a telephone pole or tap into your junction box. I find the paranoia level in some people both surprising and amusing
