it should be enough time if you come with your blood tests. But don't chance it. Just call the county in which Cincinnati is located ask for the marriage licensing office and ask! Call your helpful telephone information operator. Rene (& Rich)

Does anyone know how much it costs and what the paperwork is to file for a marriage license in Ohio. We are getting married in Cincinnati and live in Syracuse. Is there a time limit. If I come in on Thursday and the wedding is saturday, is that enough time? thanks, Todd (& Dawn) July 8, 1995 In Miami County, Troy/Piqua, Near Dayton OH, you can get the license 60 days prior, and it's good on the day you get it. You both need to go with your driver's licenses and $35 CASH ONLY. You don't need a blood test or anything. You should call the county court house in the county is which you will be getting married to find out their exact hours, since I'm almost positive you need to get the license issued in the same county the ceremony will take place in. Of course all this is for Ohio residents I'm not sure if there are special rules for out-of-staters. Hope this helps Angel(&Brian) July 22, 1995

Marriage license in Ohio is usually issued on the same day you apply for it. The ceremony must take place in the county where the license is issued. The law requires that you wait one to three days before marrying. The wedding must occur within 30 days of getting the license. If you've been married before, you must know the date and place of your divorce or annulment. Bride and groom must go to the license bureau (probably in the county courthouse) in person. You need a driver's license, birth certificate, or baptismal record. This is according to a brochure we got in a wedding catalogue we got here in Toledo.

Just call the county in which Cincinnati is located ask for the marriage licensing office and ask! Call your helpful telephone information operator. Rene (& Rich) I would second this idea... We are getting married in Montgomery County (Dayton), but we live in a suburb in Greene County. I called both to check on what to do, and was told that one of the applicants must live in the county in which they are obtaining the license - since we both live in Greene County we will get the license there, though the marriage is in a differenct county. Plus the fee was $30 in Montgomery vs. $35 in Greene. And the Montgomery County people say there is a 5 day waiting period, unless you are military (this could be a problem if you are getting the license on Thusday). Finally, if you are getting married in a church, you may want to ask them if they have any requirments - our church wants us to get them the license two weeks before the wedding so that they have time to process everything. Confused yet? I think the bottom line is that you should check with Hamilton County (they probably have a recording you can listen to - you might ask for Probate Court or a generic Marriage License info line) and your church... Good Luck! Gary (and Kimberly), June 10, 1995 Gary Lovings

Gary and Kimberly, double-check what the folx at the marriage license bureau said. I think your license has to come from the county where you get married, not the county where you live. Maybe you talked to someone who didn't understand the law, or maybe I'm wrong. But double-check. Holden Lewis
