I've posted this on uk.telecom.mobile but it's not the busiest of groups compared to one like this, and someone's bound to know the answer. The post I put on there is below: I have this particular phone (picture and info can be seen at: http://www.imobile.com.au/PhoneReviews/default.asp?ID=reviewsoct0001 ) and just wanted to ask if the problem I'm experiencing would be solved by a new battery or whether it's just generally knackered. In the last few days, I have seen my battery suddenly only last about 14 hours before it needs a recharge rather than the usual 2 days, but as of yesterday it decided to start crashing every time I wanted to read text messages on it. I've had it for 18 months, and before that my ex had it for 12-18 months previously so it's getting on a bit but I like it and it does what I need, although it'd be nice for a mobile phone to actually hold more than 10 messages at a time. TIA,

I don't think this particular phone had bluetooth, but if it does, and you have just started using it, ensure you only activate bluetooth on the phone when you need it and deactivate it when you don't. When I got my Samsung S55 last year and started using my wireless headset, the battery suddenly started draining every 12 hours instead of every week.  Then I realised that was what was causing it, so I programmed button 8 to toggle bluetooth on and off for use only when I'm using my headset in the car. If it doesn't have bluetooth, check you haven't enabled IR or any other wireless related technology.

When I got my Samsung S55 last year Whoops, that should read Siemens S55.  And what's with the lack of bluetooth functionality in newer phones?  I was on the verge of buying the SL55 last week until I realised it was little more than a penis extension. (Which obviously, mustard hanky owners like myself don't need.) ;D

One may as well begin with Lee's letter to uk.media.tv.misc: When I got my Samsung S55 last year Whoops, that should read Siemens S55.  And what's with the lack of bluetooth functionality in newer phones?  I was on the verge of buying the SL55 last week until I realised it was little more than a penis extension. I love mine! (The SL55 that is; not my penis extension.) Actually, I bought it in a moment of utmost envy when I was out on a hot date and she had an SL55 (which I had never seen before). The only REALLY shit thing about it is the chronically poor vibrate and low volume, meaning that it's very easy not to hear when messages arrive. As to Dom's question, yes, most of it sounds like a worn-down battery, except the freezing thing. Freeze as in really freeze but stays on? Or freeze as in switches itself off too. I wouldn't have imagined that the former could be a worn-out battery... - Hide quoted text -- Show quoted text - (Which obviously, mustard hanky owners like myself don't need.) ;D

The only REALLY shit thing about it is the chronically poor vibrate and low volume, meaning that it's very easy not to hear when messages arrive. How can that be the *only* really shit thing when you just listed two things?   And besides, the other *really* shit thing about it is that it doesn't have bluetooth functionality.  I can't believe they made the S55 with everything you could possibly want except the display of the SL55.  But then the SL55 came out after it and had far fewer features. It just didn't make sense.  Such an attractive phone too.  The way the law has sensibly gone with mobile phone use in cars, it strikes me the market for SL55 has shrunk somewhat because no driver is going to want a phone with that limitation.
